EYE Task Force

e165484f50.jpg
The EYE Task Force was established at the council meeting in November 2000 in Helsinki to ensure continuous progress on EYE topics independent from the EYE activities, e.g. the preparation of proposals for the council meetings.

The EYE Task Force consists of nine members: 4 Task Force Members (at every conference 2 get elected for a term of 1 year), the president of EYE (=main organiser of upcoming president), and is headed by the Secretary General and Deputy Secretary general of EYE. For continuity reasons, the past and upcoming presidents, also are part of the Task Force. Finally, a representative of the EYE Office Brussels is also present, and the task force can decide to invite extra persons.

Major achievements since the establishment of the EYE Task Force are: the EYE Information System, the current web page, the news magazine eye-contact, the eye action plan, the more professional preparation of the council meetings, the professional workshops at the conferences, the renewed website...

Every conference, there are two "open seats" for the Task Force. Persons interested in this position can contact their council member for more information. If you have an interest in European affairs, and are willing to join a dynamic team heading a European organisation... this might be just right for you. Read also the more detailed "job description". Think about it!

If you are interested to find out about the current persons in the team, the rest of this page is just right for you.

Evert van Lieshout (KIVI NIRIA, NL)
Secretary General

Hey, I’m Evert van Lieshout and the new Secretary General of EYE. In daily live I’m working at the Ministerie of Transport and Public works at the section Network Design. During my study I studied in Twente and abroad at the University of Osnabrück.

Besides working I really enjoy to be a part of EYE, I really get a lot back of it. Not alone knowledge but also a nice and strong international network! This creates a vision of EYE being THE lobby for young engineers in Europe and speak to the European Commission. Creating this will be one of my task in the coming period.

Tim Moenkedieck (VDI, D)
Deputy Secretary General

Dear European engineering colleagues, my name is Tim. I joined the Task Force of the European Young Engineers in 2008. After participating in several EYE conferences, I decided to contribute this amazing European engineering community in terms of expanding its network. Besides my multi-national activities within the EYE, I am in charge of some international affairs of the VDI’s students and young engineers in Germany as well. Therefore, I am attending the World Engineers’ Conventions (WEC), which take place in an Olympic cadence on alternating continents, in order to keep in touch with other engineering organizations. Broadening my personal horizon by experiencing cultural differences, other languages and a professional, international collaboration is my major motivation to work in a more and more connected global engineering community. I am always looking forward to meet open minded students and engineers, willing to discuss and contribute concerns of our (engineering) society.

Besides these organizational involvements I started my professional life as a technical consultant in the field of composite materials in 2007. In correspondence with my studies in industrial engineering in Braunschweig (Germany) and Madrid - focussing aerospace technologies - I started working at Airbus CIMPA in Hamburg.

I hope to meet you soon!

Preetam Heeramun (IET, UK)
Regional coordinator

Hello fellow engineers around Europe, I am Preetam. I am originally from the tropical island Mauritius in the Indian Ocean and currently live and work in the UK.

I am a mobile phone software engineer with the Japanese company NEC. My current area of work is based on developing "better" web browsers for mobile devices for global markets and users.

I have attended and enjoyed a number of the unique EYE weekend conferences since 2003. I am representing the IET on the EYE Council since November 2007 and joined the one & only EYE Task Force team since May 2008 at the EYE Copenhagen conference.

I eagerly look forward to work with the EYE Task Force team and EYE Council members to drive the EYE spirit forward, expand our coverage & variety of activities in Europe and engage more young active engineers in our EYE community.

It is not all WORK and no PLAY for me! I enjoy cycling, badminton, football and I am always ready for some nice food and drinks in good company to share our experiences and ideas to shape the future. Let’s make it happen together!

Claudio Picentino (GIOIN, I)
Regional coordinator

Ciao, I'm Claudio and I leave in Salerno, a nice city near Amalfitan coast. I’m graduated in civil engineer at the University of Salerno, but I spent the last time of my studies in the University of Manchester. Actually I'm a Phd in environmental engineer at the University of Salerno and I work in the construction company of my family.I’m the Foreign Affair Reponsable of GIOIN (Salerno young engineers), and the Coordinator of the next EYE Conference in Salerno.

I love to travel and to meet different cultures, and I believe in the idea of a big and united Europe. In my university life I was member of Aegee (Association des Etats Generaux des Etudiants de l’Europe), and for 7 years I joined in the local and international activities.

EYE has given me the chance to continue to support my ideas, to meet new friends and to widen my horizons. I hope to contribute in the pursuing the objectives of EYE.

Me and my friends organised the first Italian EYE Conference in Salerno, the land where poets singed about the sun, the sea, the history, the landscapes and the Italian hospitality.

Florian Dignath (VDI, D)
Regional coordinator

Hallo everybody, I'm Florian and helping EYE with the extension towards a community enveloping more and more of Europe. In Germany, I'm an active member of the VDI, earlier organising events for engineering students in Stuttgart and now in Munich. From the moment I first came in touch with EYE at the Cardiff conference in 2005 I was fascinated by the mingling and merging of different (engineering) cultures and the pure pulsation of life within the organisation. After profiting from conferences sited at the corners of a triangle placed all over Europe, I started serving the task force of EYE after the Valetta conference in October 2007.

In my professional life I am working in the development of one of the most exciting transportation technologies of these days, the Transrapid. After studying in Stuttgart, Brighton and Kingston (Canada) I am now leading a team of students and scientist from various German and European Universities to apply the latest developments to this magnetically levitated vehicle. Due to its frictionless motion and the consequent environmental advantages this high-speed system has the true potential to cross-link Europe - the physical complement to the social network of EYE.

Personally, EYE has become a cosy family and an adventure tour at the same time for me - reuniting with people from my own EYE network, and meeting new characters from all parts of the continent. Experiencing the culture, engineering and living conditions of foreign countries, and being guided by reliable natives - becoming friends. All this with the background of the established but ever changing concept of the EYE conferences. But see for yourself! Join the next conferences in Copenhagen and Düsseldorf, where I'll be one of your native guides.
