EYE Embassies web

The EYE Embassies project

History

The project "EYE Embassies" officially started in 2009. The main idea is to gather and publicly provide information on how to study, work and live abroad. As an active network of engineering students and young professionals, sharing this kind of information is one of the essentials of EYE. Publishing this kind of information inside the so-called EYE Embassies aims to convert a main benefit of our conference into a useful tool that can be used from everywhere, by anyone at any time. This benefit is what we call "networking"!

Since 2009 the structure of this EYE Embassies Portal has been defined, including functions that allow people to actively take part in the process of gathering information and share their experiences. This project was the main reason to convert the EYE website into a TWiki-based environment, allowing people to comment and add things easily.

Current & future development

There are lots of ideas that still need to be reflected, evaluated and implemented. A short extract:

  • Allow people to share field reports and maintain their own blogs
  • Add a function to easily link external reports or articles
  • Implement a space to discuss the development of the Embassy pages and to gather new ideas
