SiobhanMcGrath The website www.daft.ie lets you search for houses for sale, to rent, or to share. It is a good site to check to cost of accommodation before you come to Ireland. 24 Nov 2011 - 23:24

SiobhanMcGrath Gas and electricity can be purchased from these suppliers: ESB, Airtricity or Board Gáis. On the day you move into a new rented house make sure that you read the electricity and gas meters with the landlord or agent and then ring one of the energy companies with this reading and your MPRN number (your landlord should have this). If you are renting a room the housemates will probably split the bill proportionately depending on how much of the billing time you were living there. At the moment you do not need to pay for water in Ireland. You do have to pay for rubbish collection. Ask the landlord or agent how this is done.

SiobhanMcGrath Student halls are not common. Ask the University/Institute of Technology you are attending about theirs. Students usually find houses the same as working people (as above) 24 Nov 2011 - 23:25
